We have successfully completed a water project in a village of twenty households! Few months back, we were being approached by the representatives from the village requesting to help with their potable water situation. During summer especially, the quality of their water source were at times being contaminated by debris and soil run-offs and it makes consumption of the water impossible.
After our investigation and site assessment, we have proposed instead of building a new water system (linking to a higher and further water source, which could be costly and time consuming in construction), to actually install a water filter system to each household’s water tap. We spent a day with the villagers demonstrating and teaching them on how to install and maintain the simple water filter system.
Some villagers immediately put the filtration device into good use, by cooking a few of their local delicacies, using the very water they had just filtered! Delicious!
