In our continuing effort to create awareness to the rich natural heritage of Qinghai, as well as to advocate for the protection/conservation of the environment, ENVIQO organized our very first Bird Watching Event, near Qinghai Lake on the 11th July 2017.
Qinghai is one of the important resting and breeding grounds for migratory birds traveling from spots as far south as Australia, passing through Singapore, Hong Kong and then Qinghai, before reaching far North of the globe – Siberia! There are multitudes of birds differing in species, shapes, color and sizes stopping over at Qinghai (depending on the seasons) and it is a beautiful sight to behold!
We were privileged to have Mrs Becca C. and Mr Phil S., resident expert bird watchers to share with the participants (ranging from 2 years old onward), on how to identifying the species of birds and the importance of protecting and conserving the environment for the migratory birds.
It was a fruitful day for the participants as they wandered around the vast grassland as well as wetland, discovering different species of birds found here. It was especially rewarding to hear the young participants excitedly exclaiming the names of birds they saw and collecting shed feathers as souvenirs to this bird watching trip!
